To tie in with the stepping up of efforts to promote STEAM education, the Education Bureau (EDB) continues to optimize the school curriculum by incorporating more Innovation and Technology learning elements into it so as to enhance students’ scientific literacy and creative thinking. EDB also encourages teachers to use tools of information technology, including e-learning platforms, in learning and teaching to facilitate self-directed learning of students. EDB has launched the “Junior Secondary Science Online Self-learning Scheme” (the Scheme), with the support of the Hong Kong Virtual University of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, since the 2021/22 s.y. The Scheme provides online seminars, e-quizzes and online reading activities relevant to the Science (S1-3) curriculum so that students can pursue the latest science knowledge proactively to enhance their scientific literacy and learning effectiveness in STEAM through self-learning.
